Company Pension

The company pension is mandatory as defined by the Federal Act on Occupational Old Age Survivors’ and Invalidity Pension Fund. It is known as the second pillar of the three-pillar concept. The pension plan, in conjunction with AHV/IV payments, should enable the elderly, survivors and invalid persons, to maintain their usual living standards. All employees subject to AHV are insured from a specific minimum AHV salary upwards as per employer. The most important benefits of the BVG are the payment of old-age, widows’ pensions and orphans’ pensions together with invalidity pensions.

Group Health Insurance

Almost everyone domiciled in Switzerland must take out sickness insurance regardless of age. Anyone arriving in Switzerland with the intention of staying must take out such insurance within three months. Group health insurance can be paid for by the employer or more commonly a scheme discount can be offered to the employees. Premium discounts of up to 20% are possible for non-mandatory insurance. 

Disability Insurance

It is mandatory to insure full-time employees for short-term sickness and long-term accident. Long-term sickness insurance is included within the company pension cover. Substantial premium savings can be made by choosing the right provider.
